Philip Whalen (1923-2002)

1971 First Edition, Grey Fox Press, Bolinas
Octavo. Trade paperback in original wraps in NEAR FINE condition and protected in a clear plastic envelope. The book is a single poem composed in Kyoto, which includes charming b/w illustrations and calligraphy. 74 pp. This is the author's sixth collection of poetry and dedicated to fellow poet Allen Ginsberg.  Unpretentious, urbane, charming, wise, Philip is simply wonderful.  He reveals here why both his literary and Zen companions considered him in the highest esteem.  It is also laugh out loud funny and one of my favorites of all his works.
